The aim of the ELAN Network Technical Mission is to promote international networking between Latin American and Dutch entities and to share best practices, showcase technology developments and to identify  potential technology-based business opportunities (TBBOs) in circular economy, with a special focus on renewable energy,  bio-economy and environmental technologies.

The ELAN Network Technical Mission will bring together Dutch, European and Latin American actors (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru) to share pioneer experiences, business models and best practices of public-private partnerships and to identify  technology-based business opportunities in the areas related to circular economy, including examples from renewable energy, bio-economy and environmental  technologies.

TNO has established a strategic collaboration with MVO Nederlands (ELAN Network partner) and Circle Economy   to create a synergy between the ELAN Network technical mission and the Circular Economy trade mission Netherlands 2016   to showcase the Dutch leadership in this topic for the establishment of public private partnerships and the realisation of business initiatives in circular economy.


  • Foster the creation of technology-based business opportunities and to promote different modes of collaboration between European and Latin American actors interested in innovation and technology around circular economy. 
  • Share best practices and successful experiences of public-private partnerships that promote real-life business activities around circular economy.
  • Showcase the Dutch state-of-the-art knowledge on innovate projects, business models and  ventures related to Circular Economy, Renewable Energy, Bioeconomy and Environmental Technologies.
  • Create new relationships  via a fair trade in order to promote networking and match-making and thus to create technology-based business opportunities and to promote strategic collaboration between European and Latin-America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru).

  • Internal workshop to discuss and validate the results of ELAN Network’s market intelligence work . Such activities have been devoted to 
    • The identification of technology-based business opportunities between Europe and Latin America and, 
    • Annalise the state of development of the ELAN Network innovation systems in each country related to the prioritised sectors (renewable energy, environmental technologies, biotechnology and bio-economy, nanotechnology, advanced materials, ICT and health).
  • Visits to innovative companies, pilot projects and research initiatives in renewable energy, bio-economy and environmental technologies.
  • Join the Circular Economy mission in order to participate in networking activities and to learn from successful experiences of public-private partnerships for and about circular economy. Among others:
    • Visit of CE Expo Valley and Park 20.
    • Lunch with Prince Carlos de Bourbon de Parme and Circular Initiatives at Parkcafé Groen.
    • Guided tours to Dutch best practice examples of circular economy: Regional Circular Cooperation; Production and Manufacturing; Re-Use & Recycling; and Custom Made.
    • Participation in the event: Innovation Expo Netherlands 2016.
    • Visit by boat through the harbours of Amsterdam and cycling tour through Amsterdam infrastructure for circular economy. 
  • A joint ELAN Network - Circular mission trade fair where Latin American entities will have the opportunity to share experiences, identify business opportunities and to discuss possible avenues for collaboration with European companies and research centres.
